Patient Safety During Heatwaves: A built environment approach
Dr Eman Zied Abozied is a Research Associate at Newcastle University Population Health Sciences Institute. She is a successful recipient of several grants relating to climate change, including the NIHR Newcastle PSRC Pre-Application Support Fund (2025-2026).
In this session, Eman will provide an overview of her programme of work which examines the impact of climate change related extreme heat on health outcomes, and how this is mediated by built environment characteristics. She will present the findings from her ongoing pilot work, then discuss plans for future work with local authorities and healthcare practitioners which aims to develop interventions for reducing inequalities and improving the safety of patients receiving treatment during heatwaves.
